Pomaire--A Treasure Trove of Souvenirs

Pomaire is a little town with dirt streets about 70 km from Santiago. It's not picturesque in anyway, but it does offer booth after booth of clay pieces of all kinds, jewelry, straw products and other typical souvenirs at reasonable prices.

Hawkers promoting certain restaurants stationed themselves at street corners; lazy cats sunned themselves on the sidewalks; tourists moved from one shop to another comparing prices and lugging home bags of treasures. Most of the souvenirs I brought home with me came from Pomaire.

It was a nice place to shop, but after that I was ready to move on.

Yes, your little grandson certainly does look like he's ODed on shopping! I had the pleasure of baby-sitting for my two last night, while my daughter and son-in-law had a well-deserved night out.

Loved the travelogue on the Cats of Pomaire...I love to photograph cats in each place we travel, too. What a shopper's delight, especially the prices.
