Along the waterfront at Puerto Madero - Buenos Aires

Along the waterfront at Puerto Madero

La Bifsteka: La Bifsteka--a variety of foods La Bistecca Review

We dined at La Bifsteka because it was part of our hotel package. The restaurant was located in Puerto Madero and within walking distance to the Floating Casino. Since our visit, I've seen other travelers rating this as a fairly decent place to eat.

The restaurant had a spacious dining area and offered an extensive buffet with many assorted choices. We witnessed patrons filling their plates many times over as they sampled the selections. We found it to our liking due to its site near the waterfront.

A lighted walkway threaded along the waterway almost to the casino, then one had to cross the road to the casino. At that point, it was every man for himself! Watch crossing, the cars move swiftly.

Favorite Dish: The variety of foods made it easy to choose something we each liked.

Tango--the dance of passion - Buenos Aires

Tango--the dance of passion

La Pergola de San Telmo: Restaurant at San Telmo

While visiting San Telmo's feria, we discovered a pleasant restaurant nearby--La Pergola de San Telmo. We were led to an upstairs dining area where a pretty terrace punctuated the room with a view of the feria below. A suave couple demonstrated the tango as we dined!

I couldn't help but picture my husband and myself gracefully parading before the people, elegantly dressed and filled with passion...oh never mind!

We ordered a "Fellini" pizza made with a tomato sauce base and topped with provolone cheese, mushrooms, oregano and parsley. There may have been another topping, but whatever...it was fantastic and the cost for two with a beverage was under $10.

Favorite Dish: One of the best pizzas ever!

Las Nazarenas for mouth-watering steaks - Buenos Aires
Las Nazarenas: Las Nazarenas for mouth-watering steaks Las Nazarenas Review

Las Nazarenas was recommended by a very credible source: a taxi driver. We asked where the best steak could be found downtown and we were directed to Laz Nazarenas. He was absolutely correct, the steaks were tender, cooked to our liking and tasty!!

We entered the restaurant at the street level, passing a glassed pit where delectable meats were cooking. The downstairs dining area was crowded, so we were conducted to the second level where most of the tables were filled and the waiters were hopping! Our order was promptly taken as we sipped glasses of chilled wine.

The aroma of beef slowly grilled to perfection, flooded the restaurant as our stomachs anticipated a delicious repast, which it was!

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Las Nazarenas. The service was excellent, the steaks absolutely wonderful and the evening a pleasant one in this establishment!

Antique Calling Card From My Collection - Buenos Aires

Antique Calling Card From My Collection

Petite Callao Cafe and Resto: Buenos Aires' bustling cafe

The Petit Callao, a cafe and restaurant on the corner of Juncal/Callao was located near our hotel, Design Suites. This restaurant was really bustling and had a delightful atmosphere!

The dining room had rich paneling on the walls and gleaming brass accents throughout. Large windows faced the busy street and it was evident that this noisy, gregarious place was a gathering spot for locals AND visitors.

The menu had a large variety of selections which were in Spanish and English...so helpful! We ordered empanadas (three to a plate), which were tasty and inexpensive. The cost for four people was approximately $12.67, including a beverage.
