Clean, modern, and manageable, Perth is more a giant suburb with a few skyscrapers than it is a city in the traditional sense. Its vitality, relaxed disposition, fine weather, and cosmopolitan makeup make for an almost ideal place to live and work, but there really isn’t a whole lot to get excited about from a tourist perspective. It does, however, serve as a nice base to enjoy the conveniences of modern civilization before or after a foray into the outback. And there is enough to see and do that at least a couple days are warranted, especially when combined with a day or two at nearby Fremantle and Rottnest Island.
