Ambergris Caye was made famous by the Madonna song "La Isla Bonita." After having spent several days on neighboring Caye Caulker, I found nothing particularly appealing about Ambergris Caye. I certainly won't be dreaming of San Pedro anytime soon. San Pedro is the only town on Ambergris Caye, which I found to be rather like Caye Caulker on steroids. More people, more cars, more golf carts, and higher costs, but still without the glitz and glamour of a place like Cancun. And far less relaxing than Caye Caulker.
