Waikoloa

Waikoloa should be the appropriate city for this page but VT doesn't offer it as of yet. Anaeho'omalu is a small part of Waikoloa.

Besides Waikoloa Beach Village, Waikoloa North Village is a nice little residential area with beautiful homes and grand pastures. While no longer offering tourist stays, Waikoloa North once offered The Elima Lani which is now a town house community. Views extend from the base of Mauna Kea down to the beach. Such a beautiful sight!

Historic White Sands

Anaeho'omalu Bay is one of the most familiar sights to tourists. The Hilton Waikoloa and Waikoloa Beach Marriot are aligned on its beach. The area itself has high historical value housing an ancient Hawaiian heiau at the City of Refuge. I am not refering to Puuhonua O Honaunau, that is located in Kailua-Kona. This heiau sits on the shores atop bleached white pebbles in the beating down sun. In times of the ancients, those who would commit a crime were generally punished by death. Ancient Hawaii was a zero tollerance kingdom. The slightest thing such as letting your shadow cast upon sacred ground would be grounds for death. A man or warrior who was accused of something taboo or "kapu" would be chased down until killed. If he were to find a city of refuge or puuhonua, they would be safe and absolved of their crime by a kahuna or priest. Depending on the severity of the crime, one would have to spend some time at the puuhonua before being able to leave. After leaving, the criminal in question would return to a normal life.
