Admittedly I'm a Marriott fan & have been Platinum for many years. The overall rate was very competitive given the quality of the property. I paid $140 for a government rate & was upgraded to a beautiful suite with concierge room priveleges. The concierge room provides free breakfast, enough snacks at dinner you won't need to go out, free sodas and free sweets.
Unique Qualities: The downside - if you're in San Jose to visit the "gulch" with other guys or plan to spend a considerable time in the downtown area the taxis can be prohibitive. I was only in town one full day & made two trips to town - once late morning and once early evening. Essentially a $15 ride each way, so I was out $60 a day for taxi service. This should be considered when deciding if it's an appropriate property for your needs.
Otherwise absolutely zero complaints & nothing but raves. But $60 a day for basic transportation could be a deal-breaker for many.
Free shuttle to the airport on departure.
