Medugorje

I first learned about Mary's appearances to 6 village children, in the early 1980s. Her message was always the same, pray, convert, return to her Son, Jesus, return to the sacraments of the Catholic church, pray the rosary, the stations of the cross, fast on Wednesdays and Fridays, pray, pray, pray for PEACE in our hearts and in the world.

Mary's appearances are nothing new. She has appeared hundreds of times in the last 2000 years. See this website for a complete list http://www.apparitions.org

Some of the bigger appearances were Guadelupe, Mexico in 1531, Lourdes, France in 1858, Fatima, Portugal in 1917, Garabandal, Spain in 1961, and Betania, Venezuela in 1976.

But no where have the appearances lasted so long as in the small village of Medugorje, located in Bosnia-Herzegovina (former Yugoslavia). They began in 1981 and continue today!

What Did I See?

We were in Medugorje for 5 days. We went to mass at St. James church, climbed Apparition Hill where Mary first began appearing in 1981, climbed Mount Crucifix, where the Bosnians built a huge cross in 1933 and visited the statue of the Ressurected Christ which oozes a substance which scientists have not been able to figure out how it comes from a stone sculpture. We saw one of the visionaries, Vicka, speak and she prayed for us. At St. James we participated in the Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, which is one of my most happy memories.

The church is so packed full of people. Medugorje is an international place of pilgrimage. Millions come from all over the world. The Irish, Asians, Italians, Germans, Americans, South Africans, Canadians, we are all there! So the church is extremely full, standing room only for many. People spill out of all the entrances and many sit in row upon row beside the church.

My Favorite Memory

Visiting the Cross of the Resurrection and praying the rosary at the feet of Jesus' statue was a favorite habit, my mom and I developed while in Medugorje.

We would set the alarm for 3:00 a.m. and go when no one else was there. But, we still found there were a few others with the same idea as us.

I was happy to see the Croation people, all the people from the whole world were here. I am not much of an evangelist, but if anyone has read my travel page this far, whether you are catholic or not, I encourage you to come to this place. It is a slice of heavan on earth. If your heart is open, you may be boosted in your faith in God and in your prayer life.

When we pray, we move a few steps towards God and he will do what he always does...He will move a thousand steps towards you.

Thank you for reading my page.
