München mag Dich

Munich loves you! that's the english translation of the german motto of the city. And so do I - the city is lovable - both within and its surrounds.

I took a 10-hour or so overnight train from Amsterdam to my 5th stop on my Eurotrip 2010 trip and it's ---- Munich, oh boy, that was an early arrival like 7am and hotel check-ins are normally 2pm, so where do I go?

McDonalds comes in handy during these times, so took a breakfast and arrnged the photos I took so far. But I was so damn tired, almost dozed off at McDo so I decided to go to the hotel and take my chance, glad that I did. The kind lady checked me in at the Hotel Detsche Theater. That was the first taste of German hospitality which honestly I didn't expect. All my negative expectations were proved wrong. I like Germany.

Munich it is!

I battled with my choices - Berlin, Clogne or Munich - if I have to pick only 1 place to visit Germany. I ended up with Munich for 3 reasons - Nueschwanstein Castle, Rothenburg which is actually the second morning (and also not in my plan but twas a good decision), and Salzburg. Twas quite a smart choice I realized before soon.

Didn't waste my time, took a nap and started exploring Marienplatz in the afternoon.

The mix

The store near the hotel is owned by an Egyptian and most people around the hotels are either arabs or Turkish, that's when I came into conclusion that the population is multinational. The restaurants nearby are mostly kebabs and doner sandwiches, many stores are either turkish or arab owned. Such a wonderful mixture of races.

After seeing what I want to see in Germany including a day trip to my 6th destination --- Salzburg, I flew in to Prague. Surprise!

Nice tips! Good that you took the night train from Amsterdam to Munich. I used to take the night train from Frankfurt to Munich for business meetings sometimes, but that makes quite a short night, maybe six hours of sleep and you're already there.
