Buyuk Liman Hotel: Another ocean view on the balcony

another nice hotel where i DID NOT stay but for the location i recommend it. it's along the turgut isik cadessi - the bigger bay where you could swim, and each room is facing the ocean with a balcony so you'll get a pretty view of the ocean although it's located on the far right end facing the ocean, seaside restaurants are very near and about 10 minutes walk to the dolmush parking.

the pink building looks nice.

Address: Kum Mah. Turgut Isik Cad., Amasra

Comparison: about average

Directions: from the dolmush parking, walk down the road to the bigger bay and turn on your right side

ozgun hotel - Amasra

ozgun hotel

Ozgun Hotel: beside the bay

i did not stay at this hotel but i went in and waited for hours as they say one room facing the bay on the ground floor or first will be available by 12nn, but unfortunately it wasn't.

but for location i would recommend it, it's a nice one and if u can have a room on the top floors, the view of the bay is really nice and it's right at the town centre. TL40 for single room with breakfast, the staff though seemed to me (at least) not very friendly.. i did not say they're rude, juz not very friendly. but i may be wrong because i did not stay there in the first place. it's juz an opinion based on a 10 minute inquiry... and waiting.

Address: Kücük Liman Cadessi, Camlik Sok. No 3

Comparison: less expensive than average

Price: US$20-40

kusna pension, the red one is the new building - Amasra

kusna pension, the red one is the new building

kusna pension: a room with a refreshing view

i arrived in amasra at 7am and i wandered around town before finding a place to stay. at 10am i saw Ozgun Hotel, i said it's right for me almost in front of the nice bay and within the town centre but they don't have availability when they asked me to wait until 12, so i headed to kusna pension which i saw earlier in the day when i passed by it while roaming around the area. it's on the hilly side within the castle premise (or what remains of the castle walls). i never regretted it though as the room commanded a beautiful refreshing view of the ocean and mountains and standing few meters from my window looking at the ocean i felt like i'm (or my room) is actually floating on the water. nice to stare at the window during the day and listen to the waves hitting the rocks, the sounds of the wind blowing on the leaves of the trees and the cold breeze caressing ur face during the evening. very quiet area as the town centre is on the other side down below. no tv juz clean comfortable bed, small closet, toilet shower, who needs a tv though with such a nice view.

the lady at the pension is friendly though does not speak english but managed to make me comfortable. i think the couple beside my room and me are the only people in the pension that time as we are the only ones at the breakfast table the following morning. i stayed for 1 night and left around 10pm the following day trying to catch the midnight bus to istanbul, paid TL50 for the first night and TL40 for the second day (not night) with breakfast.

Unique Qualities: i would recommend it for the view at your window and the ocean below which is only a few steps of stairs down from the pension where u can see the small island in the mid. no swimming though as the water below the pension is rocky and has lots of rubbish, saw a mattress thrown there, i wish they clean this area - it won't be that hard am sure - as it is a good place to have a picnic or even take a dip in the cold water.

takes about 10 minutes to walk down to the town centre.

Address: kaleici mahallesi, kursuna sok no. 36/A, amasra

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: i went up the stairs leading to tourist pension, at the back of it, there's like an entrance and i saw the old church passed by it and entered a sort of a castle gate and the kusna pension's sign is few strides from the gate on my right.
