Still winter and I just came from Turkey last month (January 2007) and here I am again, coming back to the place I love most....

I soaked in the coldness of Istanbul for 3 nights, though I wanted to leave, after a night, I can't, cuz my hotel booking is not cancellable, so might as well do sumthin'.

I stepped in one of those travel agencies that has "Metro Transport" logo in Sultanahmet, bought a one way bus ticket to Ayvalik.

Ayvalik was really my reason of coming to Turkey this time, I like to visit some friends and see the beauty of the place... have a good rest perhaps.

Ayvalik is a lovely town in the Aegean seacost facing the Greek island of Lesbos.

Populated by Greeks until early 1920s, reason why you will still see the Greek influence on buidling and house architecture, the fascinating narrow streets and some old abandoned buildings and greek orthodox churches.

Ayvalik island group of 22 islands, Cunda or Alibey Island being the largest among the 22 islands.

Why was I here?

Took a vacation rest from work, flew to Istanbul stayed for 3 nights and decided to take the night bus from Istanbul's Otogar station to Ayvalik to pay visit to a local friend I accidentally meet the previous month at the long and tiring bus ride from Goreme to Izmir.

My previous plan of 3 days stay in Ayvalik extended to one whole week!

Love this place... juz as I love most of Turkey!
