I wish someday soon "Tourist" would become a high-paying profession - getting paid rather than spending.

Selcuk

Small Charming City

In front of our hotel - Urkmez Hotel
It confuses me, in fact, until now am not sure if Ephesus is a part of Selcuk or Selcuk is the main town of Ephesus or both are parts of Izmir and both are separate cities of Izmir. But what I am sure about is - Ephesus is about 2 to 3 kilometers from the town centre of Selcuk.

Selcuk is popular because of Ephesus.

So to make it more specific, I put all my Ephesus tours and things to do in a separate Ephesus page .

Selcuk is the city where people usually stay to explore the ancient city of Ephesus. It's the town where you'll find all the hotels, bus stations, and all commercial stuff. To put it simply, Selcuk is your base in exploring the ancient ruins of Ephesus.

Am I confusing you... or am doubly confused?

i traveled once again - 16 september 09 - to selcuk to accompany 2 friends to ephesus and this time we landed at izmir airport, and checkout my transportation page for the details in getting to ephesus from izmir airport .
Weekend Veggie Market, Selcuk

At Urkmez Hotel in Selcuk

We've chosen this charming hotel in the centre of Selcuk (Urkmez Hotel), a very good base for exporing the ancient city of Ephesus, the House of Virgin Mary, St. John Basilica, Cave of the Seven Sleepers and other sights.

Selcuk in Winter

Selcuk looks so nice in winter, well, how do I know, maybe it looks nicer in summer.

Orange trees with those attractive orange-y fruits line up the streets, some lemons too and the fruits at the market stalls looks so refreshing.

School children walking up and down the streets with those very immaculate catholic-school uniforms, a very pretty sight.

Seljuk's are friendly people.

Update: Sept ' 09.... i knew it, though this small town is really nice during September (still summer?), i really find it prettier in winter, with fruits blooming all around - colours are bursting in orange, yellow, green, peach - all among the trees of Selcuk. A really good base in exploring Ephesus, PDM (Priene, Didyma & Miletus), Pamukkale, Sirince and other nearby sights.
Going up to St. John Basilica, Selcuk
