Get ready to be ripped off!

Togoville is a sleepy little place on Lake Togo. It makes for a decent visit, BUT the persisitent fleecing of arriving travellers can wear down even the most hearty soul. It begins as soon as you step foot off the boat, and never seems to let up for long. There really isn't too much to see, and might be a bit of a disappointment for some. If not for the rabid interest in your $$, it would be a pleasant trip. Although this place is pushed as a center of voodoo, don't expect a lot of cool creepy stuff like you've seen in horror films.

The Virgin

A staue of the Virgin near the water celebrates the sighting of her walking on the water in the lake in the 1970's. I have the feeling that the local palm wine might have been involved in that sighting....nevertheless, this "miracle" brought a visit from Pope Jean Paul II in 1985. I wonder if he was badgered for money too.

Fetish Shrines

You will be shown some of the local fetish shrines during your visit, you will be expected to leave money at each of them as well...big surprise!
