Since my first visit to Solvang in 2005 I have come back four more times. I fell in love with this little town. I have come back with my husband on another visit and two other times I have come with just my kids.
Its a nice little getaway from LA yet its not too far. |
|  | Solvang 2005 The year is almost over and i had a few days to take off from work (or i'll lose them). I didnt want to take the time off work and do nothing so I racked my brain thinking what a good day trip would be, and it came to me...Solvang!
I passed through it millions of times but never stopped. I always wanted to come here but never thought of it when i am making travel plans.
So my plan was to go early, check out the missions in the area, check out the waterfall, and go for a hike or a bike ride.
Solvang is alittle over two hours from LA right past Santa Barbara. (about 130 miles from LA)
My timeshare company is building a location here and i wanted to check it out and see if its worth coming for a weekend. I was definately not disappointed!
Solvang was founded in 1911 by Danish settlers from the Midwest and to this day the village celebrates it old world customs and heritage through its food and dances. The buildings here also have a European resemblance. |
