I really like the Figueroa Hotel. My friends got a room there one weekend so we got a chance to check out the rooms and they were pretty nice. Usually when I come to the Figueroa Hotel is before or after a Game at the Staples Center for some cocktails in thier lounge. The drinks are somewhat cheaper than at the Staples.
The Hotel was built in 1925 and its decorated in "Early California Mission style with a strong flavor or Morocan decor".
So, what do you get? A very exotic/bohemian stay in the center of downtown.
The side of the Hotel that faces the Staples Center has been a canvas for different murals. right now it has this California beach theme going on, but it changes periodically. (I think every few months)

Unique Qualities: I love the bar at the pool. Theres a large bed in the corner of the room to hang out at and the bar opens in toward the pool area. At the pool you can lay out at check out the skyscapers ans enjoy a peacful, relaxing atmosphere.

The Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles is located at the corner of Fifth and Grand, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The hotel has a health spa and is located near the city's theaters, shopping and restaurants. This hotel was the largest and grandest west of Chicago when it opened in 1923. It has been well preserved and restored, the Biltmore is enjoying a $10 million renovation. Some of the amenities that you will find here are Concierge, Fitness Center, Parking, Lounge, Laundry Service, and Restaurants. Hairdryer, TV, Iron, Dataports, Alarm Clock, Air Conditioning in addition to other items can be found in each room of this hotel.

Unique Qualities: This Hotel was designed by the same firm that designed the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The exterior of the building in made in the Beaux Arts style and many of the ceilings in the ballrooms were painted byGiovanni Smeraldi (a restaurant in the Biltmore is named in his honor).
Even if you dont stay here you have to at least go into the Biltmore and have "high tea" or stroll through the hotel and peak into the ballrooms and check out its grandure.
On a recent trip to LA we were exhausted from all hte walking we did, we stopped at the Biltmore and had some coffee and relaxed abit. It was very interesting to see the ladies in their hats and nicely dressed having their 4 o'clock tea. It is something of a tradition.

I used to come to the Bonaventure a long time ago for parties, dances, and concerts. it has been a while since i had been here but i can see why they refer to the Bonaventure as the "city within the City". This place is very big, you can actually get lost in here.
On this occassion, my uncles who are jewelers in the Jewelery District here in Downtown decided to get a room enstead of driving all the way back to Palmdale. So we went to dinner and drinks and i got a chance to take some pictures of the room here. Considering the Bonaventure is such a large hotel the rooms are rather small.
The are 42 restaurants, shops, and boutiques. There are 1354 rooms as well, and i beleive something like 135 suites.
The prices of the rooms fluctuate quite a bit depending on what is going on in the city. The lowest price i have seen to stay here was 135.00 per night but it can go as high a over 250.00 dollars. On this particualr night the rooms were going for 185.00 per night. Last week they were going for 289.00 per night. And of course the suites are more expensive. The Bonaventure caters to the business traveler and there is a business center downstairs. Some of the rooms are also geared for the business traveler.

Unique Qualities: The lobby is a six story lobby/atrium, and the building is in the shape of five cylinder shaped towers. Inside the building is mostly made of concrete.
The elevators shoots through the roof of the atrium and up the outside of the building.

The regular rooms at the Bonaventure are alright. i was expecting something alittle more fancy, or maybe bigger. the rooms are pretty small and seem rather crowded. There are mirrors on the walls of some rooms in order to make it look somewhat larger.
They are nice, neat and clean though and that is what is important.

Unique Qualities: Nice goose down comforters and excellent views of Downtown.

I spent a long time just walking around and exploring the hotel. There were alot of interesting art all over the place. there was alos alot of fountains and plants everywhere. The hotel is very modern in style and very elegant. Theres wide open spaces and many windows.

A few movies where shot in this hotel. Two that come to mind right away are True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jaime Lee Curtis and In the Line Of Fire with Clint Eastwood. I know there were a number of others i just cant remember the names.
Also if you are in downtown on the weekend there might be plenty of detours. On the weekends especially, sometimes during the week days, they are always filming in this area.
