These ruins were built over 500 years ago and there is a small fee to get into the ruins. It is opened from 8am to 5pm but it is best to go early in the mornings.

Some history

Befor the Incas arrived here this was a sacred site for the local Canari Indians. This place was called Cashaloma which means "the place where the sa=tars are pouring from the heavens". Just like the Incas the Canaris were accomplished astronomers and they built an observatory here to study and worship the sun god and the stars. They were conquered bythe Incas in the 15th century and the Incas buikt Ingapirca over the Cashaloma foundations around 1450-85.
