Kotor is located in a most secluded part of the bay of Kotor, and is a major tourist destination. The old port is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice, and stretching 4.5km directly above the city.
The Bay of Kotor is sometimes called the southern-most fiord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon). The entire length of the Boka ('inlet') Kotorska is 28km. |
