Glesga - Scotland's second city?

by clivedinburgh - last update: Dec 17, 2005

Life and times in Glasgow

I moved to Glasgow in 2000 following several years in London and really enjoyed seeing the city emerge from it's past reputation of a rough auld place to overtake Edinburgh as the best city centre for shopping in Scotland.

I also served on HMS Glasgow for several years and attended several civic receptions in some glorious venues thoughout the city.

Embra versus Glesga

There is always a rivalry between the two major Scottish cities (Edinburgh & Glasgow if you need a translation) and for my money I'd prefer the capital. This is in contrast to one of my brothers so I can appreciate that it is an individual's choice.

All I can say is you should definatly try both these great cities.
