Edinburgh Woollen Mill: The original wool shop.

The Edinburgh Woollen Mill shops that can be seen in every high street around the UK have their origins in Langholm. In 1970, this was the chosen name for the first retail outlet of the Langholm Dyeing and Finishing Company, many of the wares are still produced in the town and the shops have used various views of the town as merchandising over the years.

The Border Fine Arts Gallery: Dogs, Cats, everything

BFA started with a small studio in the 80s producing handcrafted and painted ornaments. The company now has a worldwide market and is a real success story. The ornaments are centrally produced and several originals are painted by the in-house artists, these are then used as templates by the local housewifes who paint the vast majority of the ornaments. There is a factory shop in the town square but most towns have a stockist (e.g. Jenners in Edinburgh).

G. J. LATIMER & Co: Hidden depths

Latimers was a hardware store that started to expand into furniture when I was young and the shop that exists today is a bit tardis-like. Well worth a stroll around.
