Life in Leith

Lieth Docks can be seen on the airport approaches
I lived in Leith for nearly 18 months. For most of this time I was working away in Belfast but sampled plenty of the areas more lively spots. Hopefully the tips in these pages are of some use.

New meets old

Leith is located on the North side of Edinburgh and has acted as the city's port for centuries. Recently there has been a decline in the ports usage and this has led to developers buying up large areas of former dockland and building quality housing. To cater for the more affluent influx, several bars and resturants have sprung in The Shore area.

Water of Leith

The Water of Leith is the closest you get to a river in Edinburgh and as the name suggests, it meets the sea in Leith. The final stretch has several bridges crossing it in The Shore area.
