"Two for one" Barcelona by clivedinburgh

We were meant to head to the San Siro in December for Celtics final Champions League group match but I had just started a new job and was away at sea for that week so when we luckily made it into the next draw, then drew out a tie with Barcelona, I started to plan time off for the away leg.

When my work programme started to firm up in January, I arranged a weeks leave and started to trawl websites for accommodation. My mates also booked time off and I said that I wanted to avoid hotels and maybe even bring my girlfriend out for an extra few days at the end of the trip. So first thing I sorted out was to rent a great apartment just of Via Laietana.

After that it was simply a case of arranging travel for 4 people who lived all over the UK (Portsmouth, London, Langholm & Dunfermline). What surprised me most was the lack of choice from Scotland - no direct flights by BA, Ryanair do their sneaky trick of flying to and airport 60Km away! leaving only two budget airlines (Flyglobespan and Clickair). Neither of these had great deals for the Sunday so me and J flew out on Easyjet from Newcastle then Dougie joined us by flying in from Gatwick the next day.
