"capital of North East 'province'" Murska Sobota by picek

Murska Sobota Travel Guide: 49 reviews and 89 photos

Low houses on Kroska street. A lot of older architecture has Hungarian influence, which is no wonder - for centuries this region has been part of Hungarian teritorry, with mostly Slavic population - and after Austro-Hungary died, Prekmurje declared Mura republic and after its very short life, it joined with kingdom, later called 'kraljevina Jugoslavija' .

Some old streets and buildings still taking place in the city and I believe there's focus of your visit: Slovenska street, the castle, park... all in small scale and some fragmented.

Thing from a recent past: monument to fallen Soviet soldiers in the park, donation of USSR.

Bus station flooded with highschool student in the city centre. Renovation and redesign projects are planned here, to improve the situation. But as it lacks money, it may not happen so soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the aesthetic of it! Behind, hotel Diana. The biggest in Sobota. New features nevertheless: a brand new public library (where I took this pic from in the second floor), new banks next to library, new paved square (between library, gallery and market place).

New features not in the centre: large malls and fewer production halls.

New high school of economics: prized architecure, black block. Well, not so appealing and original - we already saw similar things before.
