Welcome to my pages!
I took that photo of a male toad in begining of April 2012. Few of us had tried to save frogs from being killed below car tyres at busy section of a road in our village. Every night out, and we managed to save some... maybe thousands. Lot more were killed and you can still see lots of roadkill, dried one which we unfortnatelly couldn't help. Fragile little animals they are, beautiful tiny amphibians, and such an important indicator of environmental quality. Toad can live up to 20 years, but who knows how many of them would reach that age? In a day they may fead up to 200 different insects, just sitting in one place, waiting for insect pass her vicinity when she stretches her tongue out and... yumyumyum.
I was surprised that so many people in a village is afraid to touch the frog. What would they do to you, a creature so minimal, hundreds times smaller? Even more, people think they were ugly. Well, maybe they are as we won't discuss taste. Maybe, like by humans, the frog falls victim to LOOKISM, yet another -ism!
In the end, the most appaling thing above all is when several individuals in cars ignore the bare fact that we're talking live creatures, and carelessly drive over them, leaving their guts splashed over asphalt. It's the worst moment to see a someone, something just being grounded before your eyes.
It's not only frogs... some other day it will be hedgehog, bird, dog, cat, hen, deer.... wolf, bear, etc.
A man can distinguish between accidental kill or just simple as that, cruelty. Unfortunately... there is a lot of latter.

{Most photos on my travel pages here are done by myself - few of them from my travel comrades (mostly hotel and rooms stuff) - it's mentioned where and by whom}.
To travel slowly is ideal I try to follow whenever possible. There's no rush to see everything... I don't want to compete with time or kilometers. I don't collect visa samps, places or number of visited states. I search for local food and side streets. I like walking a lot... it's slow enough not to miss the most interesting details and for friendly chat with people. I step wherever takes me, even if nobody else goes there. Unexpected situations are salt of my travels.
Animals and plants inspire me great time anywhere. Also rocks, rivers, minerals to field patterns, road patterns, food textures and tastes... and of course people. More unique they are, more interesting they appear - make sense, hm?
I have passion for animated movies, books and international (well, especailly European and Asian) movies and as well good old cartoons such as Russian ones, Czech and Polish ones, also Pink Panter, Gustaf, Mys Uszatek.... haha! Latest Australian movies and some of South African had been great too and especially so was the sound behind some of them (the soundtracks, I mean).
Sometimes I travel for music festivals, and sometimes for film festivals. Atmosphere happens on streets and public squares, parks, cinemas and stages!
Well, wierd or not wierd but I will visit cemeteries if I could when getting to the place. I say for myself: a trip has not been completed without profound visit to local cemetery.
World greatest landscape architectures were designed for cemeteries. Some were not 'designed' at all but they are impressive nevertheless.
Water always draw attention - sometimes in scenic natural forms, otherwise in great architectural, sculptural works of mankind.
It inspires in any form visible and audiable.
As well as an ice cube to which you'll have a sherry, or as a steam from hot water spring or sauna. It suggest sublime as well as fierce work of nature.
Therefore... no wonder the question of water and its state is the one adressed when visiting foreign places and in appropriate form therefore explained is some tips on my pages.
if i had some useful or non useful information for you, i appreciate your comment. It's good to know where you are doing something well, or something wrong. Thank you.

Hey Vesna, thanks for your nice comments on my Denizli and ?znik pages :)
Oh! How are you ? I am on lunch.Very very hot now this part of India.
Hi Vesna,
I've just been reading about Mljet Nat. Park in Croatia. You make it sound fantastic and your photos are very tempting.
Thank you and Best wishes,
Mike
Thank you for your sweet words, Vesna :-)) Oh my, yes, this equipment questions. I hate when so many new brands appear on the market without a real benefit.
And... I see that you have a similar philosophy when it comes to travel: no races, no competition, but slow :-))
sunny smiles from here :-))
Zdravo Vesna!
My sons are very sad because they cann't vote for Eva Boto and her song "Verjamem" in the 2nd semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. It's a pity for them, they both like her song...
Thank you for your visit on my Balaton page!!!!!!!Otherwise, Plitvice is also very fun! Best L.
Thanks Picek, greetings from Philippines, busy with a project but hope to take a few days off and take a trip on the motorbike to Port Barton, a small town with a coconut lined sandy beach, will find out what is new there!
Good on you that you have been out saving toads!
Thanks Vesna! I see you love animals too. :) I spent a few days in your country last spring and really enjoyed myself there. I hope to go back some day to explore more!
