Four Days at Mount Daisen

by Rabbityama - last update: Dec 23, 2005

Daisenji Temple
While in Japan, I was lucky enough to get the chance to go to a children's camp in Daisen. Mount Daisen is a beautiful mountain with many temples and shrines scattered about it. I went for a hike on Mount Daisen and saw many of these shrines/temples, as well as the natural beauty of the mountain itself. If you venture high enough, you can even see the Sea of Japan!

This is my group looking at some of the first temples you'll see along the trail.
Daisenji Temple Entrance
This is the entrance to Daisenji Temple. Actually, there is a small gift shop inside where you can purchase some souvenirs, although you can also purchase souvenirs at the lodge.

Nice tips on a beautiful area of Japan. Unfortunately I haven't found any pics from 30 years ago when I stayed at Ubara onsen nearby.
