Kurama is just north of Kyoto, and a great place to go to get out of the city and experience nature without having to go to far. You can get here quickly by train and the train itself is designed to be scenic as it has large windows for passengers to view the autumn foliage, which is the most popular time to visit!

It only takes a half-day to hike and see the sites, traveling from Kurama to Kibune (or from Kibune to Kurama, if you prefer).
