"Busy spa town in the Alpujarras mountain range" Lanjarón by Senoritasmile

Lanjarón Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 4 photos

About 40kms south of Granada, Lanjaron is famous for its mineral water and hydrotherapy treatments. I spent a very leisurely Sunday here last week and was taken with its charm. Strolling along the main street, there were several rather smart hotels and stacks of decent looking hostals. Shops offered the standard tourist baubles as well as some great local produce and local crafts - baskets all shapes and sizes. beautifully presented olive oil gift sets and hand painted ceramics.

Drinks in these parts are always accompanied by tapas and we were not disappointed - a plate of spicy pork, hot spinach with cheese and some mean olives. As the shops begin to disappear, the older part of the town starts to reveal its treasures, colourful balconies, an old chapel, cool courtyards and all set to the backdrop of rugged mountain as far as your gaze could reach.

I always like to get behind the facade of these small towns but this trip, time did not allow it - I will return even if it is just to chill away another few hours...............I liked the laid back vibe.
