Vacation 2005

I love New York

Jet skiers and Yankee Stadium
Although I was born in the States (Massachusetts to be exact) this was my first stay in NYC.

I was there for a week. I really wished that I could have stayed longer, there is so much to see and do. We did all the tourist stuff: the bus tour, the cruise around Manhattan, the Empire State building.

We went to ground zero as well. I had only seen it on TV so it was really emotional to see it for real. I was surprised to have such an intense reaction this long afterwards.

Harlem is safe too, we went to where the Apollo theater is and ate at the MacDonalds a little up the street. It was my daughter's first filet-o-fish in the States and she said it was much better and crunchier than in France.
Greasy Chinese food and diet Coke

Too many restaurants to choose from

We ate and ate and ate. I tried Virgil's Real Barbecue in Time Square (it was ok but expensive) and then we had to go to Starbucks, TGIF (didn't like it at all), various hotdog stands, little Italy, Chinatown and a charming Jordanian restaurant in Brooklyn. This picture makes everyone laugh. All that greasy food and a diet Coke!

A nice place to relax

Central park is a nice place to go and just sit and watch people. My feet were so tired from walking that we took a break on our last day.

Roosevelt Island: I took the cablecar there and walked all round it. Its NOT part of the city did you know that? I learned that from a movie. I visited in 2005 also. Neat NY page.
