The funicular

This is a really neat funicular. It connects the lower part of the town (sea level) to the upper part of the town where you get a really excellent view of the port and the sea. Unfortunately the site is only in French but they seem to be working on an English version. I am such a fan of trains that I couldn't resist this. It's modern and old fashioned at the same time. Fascinating...and only costs 40 centimes...Wikipedia has an article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funiculaire_du_Havre

The train station - Le Havre

The train station

The train station

If you come from Paris by train, this is where you will arrive.

It's a fairly ordinary small train station but always seems to have problems, last time the toilets were out of order, this time they were doing some construction work so all the heat was off everyone had to wait in the freezing cold...what will it be next time?
