Cruise along the canals of Paris from the Bastille to La Villette. The cruise takes 2:30 hours and goes along the Canal Saint Martin, then the Bassin de la Villette and the Canal de L'Ourcq. Part of it is underground. The most interesting things are the three different bridges that move. Two rotate and one lifts up. The locks are neat too. This is really a thing to do if you have the time or are fascinated by 19th engineering. Cruises leave from the Bastille, Port de l'Arsenal across from 50 bd de la Bastille all year round at 9h45 and 14h30 and cost 14 euros for an adult ticket. In the summer you can also buy tickets at the Bassin de la Villette, 13 Quai de la Loire and there is another cruise that will take you out of Paris to see the "Guinguettes".

pchamlis Sat May 23, 2009 02:26 UTC Lovely look at your hometown, Emily. Loved the restaurant tips, and the Ag Fair sounds interesting as well... sausagemakers, winemakers, cheesemakers. Merci. :) | glabah Wed Feb 18, 2009 20:43 UTC What wonderful photos of Paris! What a wonderful view to have when you wake up. You were featured on the VT home page when I logged in, and I'm glad I stopped by to see what you had. | nyperose Wed Oct 1, 2008 17:58 UTC I love your Paris pages. I used to live in Belleville when I was studying French more than 20 yrs ago. Your page brought back old memories:-D | tiabunna Wed Apr 30, 2008 08:27 UTC Paris VT pages are always enjoyable, you're fortunate to live there. Now you have posed a problem for me: to next visit during the Agricultural Fair or the Salon du Chocolat! :)) |
