Vientiane was lots of fun. The morning market, having a beer by the Mekong, the delicious grilled fish, bookshops, trendy boutiques, easy internet access, the Mekong Riverside Minimart (I just love that name). I felt really safe and happy here. |

| | The Mekong Part of the reason I was so happy to get to Vientiane was that I could fulfill my dream of having a beer by the Mekong. An emotional moment indeed. |
| | So French too Laos was a French colony and so there is a decidely French feel to Vientiane. Vin de Paille from Jura - 69 USD a bottle, baguettes, wide tree lined streets. A certain elegance. |
