| | Virtual Tourist has been an important travel resource of mine for a few years now. Many other sites often seem to have an agenda to sell you something, which makes it an arduous task to find any unbiased, reliable information. That said, the wealth of objective knowledge and personal experiences on VT becomes invaluable.... so it's only fitting that I do my part and make my own little contribution. |
First, a little bit about myself: I'm currently enrolled at Claremont McKenna College, a liberal arts school about 30 miles east of Los Angeles, where my majors are International Relations and Spanish. I'm also a striker on our soccer team, which competes at the Division III level. My main interests include traveling (no joke), studying foreign languages and cultures, watching Jeopardy and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, as well as various sporting activities (especially soccer, football and basketball). | | | Alex Trebek's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame |

| | Now a little bit about my VT pages: In writing my tips, I try to concentrate on including: 1) Concise, essential information.... while tips with in depth historical context are quite interesting, this very same info can also be found in most guidebooks, and more comprehensively at that. I'm no historian, so I'll just leave that to the professionals. 2) Helpful "inside" suggestions (when I can).... most guidebooks won't always include that little shack on the corner where the locals go to get great Pad Thai, for example. These little details can make all the difference between a good trip and a GREAT trip. 3) Plenty of pictures.... for me at least, looking at photos from a particular city or monument has a tremendous influence upon in my desire to visit there. Simply after seeing a few pictures of the karst formations along the Krabi coast, I remember thinking to myself, "Man, I gotta go there."
All in all, my goal is to provide you with a "sampler platter". After a quick taste of everything, hopefully you'll be better able to focus your choices for the main course :) |
. . . . . Thanks again for stopping by, and all the best for your future travels! . . . . . | | |
