Lincoln, New Hampshire is in the heart of the White Mountain region. It's a great place to go year whether you enjoy hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter. Everything there just goes a little slower, and after working a hectic schedule, that's just what I need.

The Woodstock Inn

There a a few places to go for a good breakfast in the are, but my favorite is in the next town over in Woodstock. The Woodstock Inn is a bed and breakfast. It is the home, as far as I'm concerned of "red-flannel hash" which is a zesty concoction of corned-beef hash and red beets. It sounds like a strange combo, but it is very good, and that coming from someone who doesn't like his veggies all that much! They also have a good selection of teas and other very good entrees.
If you go back later in the day, they also have a bar and thier own brewhouse.

Dusk off the Kancamangus Highway

Kancamangus Highway

One of my favorite things to do is head up the Kancamangus and do a little hiking on one of many trails they have. The Kancamangus is a 40+ mile stretch of road that goes from Lincoln, just after the Loon Mountain ski resort, to Littleton. The trails can range from 2 miles to 30 miles. There are trails of all kinds for any ability. The only thing to be aware of is that there is a parking fee to park at the stops. It's been $3.00 for the last few years. Passes can be picked up at the tourist center just off the highway in Lincoln or at any of the larger campgrounds.
