Getting there As I mentioned on my homepage, I was in the US Navy in the mid to late 80's. I got to se a lot of Asia during this time. My mode of travel wasn't that great, but it made for some nice quiet moment when we weren't doing anything. Before I got to Singapore, we spent a few months in the Indian Ocean. |

Arrival We pulled into Singpore on New Year's Eve 1988-89. After being at sea for the better part of three months, we were glad to be on land again. |

The city itself Singapore was my favorite ports that we visited because of the great mixture of the old and new worlds. It was also one of the cleanest cities I've ever been to. I did plenty of partying and site-seeing while I was there. I remember it being a very easy city to find my way around. I would really like to go back someday to see how much it has changed. I'm sure it has to some degree, but I hope not too much because I thought it was a great city just the way it was. |
