"Loen and Kjenndalbreen (Kjenndal Glacier)" Loen by Diana75
Loen Travel Guide: 14 reviews and 76 photos
Located at about 35 kilometers from Stryn, Kjenndal Glacier is well worth a visit.
Although not as famous as the huge Briksdal Glacier, part of the Jostedal glacier icefield, which is the largest glacier on the European mainland, Kjenndalbreen is a good alternative for the tourists willing to admire the miracles of the pure nature.
The biggest advantage of Kjenndalbreen is given by the fact that is not a crowded place, thus anyone can experience the wild, beautiful and contrasting scenery in peace.
The impressive scenery and the valley's dramatic history make a visit to Lodalen a special experience not to be missed.
On two occasions, enormous rockslides from Ramnefjellet hit the lake below.
The resulting flood wave wiped out the settlements of Nesdal and Bodal, killing 135 people.
The years 1905 and 1936 will forever remind the people of Inner Nordfjord of the Lodalen disasters.
- In a nutshell:Stunning landscape, dramatic past!

Fantastic scenery of the Lodalen Valley and great info. I'd like to see it and strawberry plantations. I didn't know about the tragedy in the valley.
The scenery is amazing especially Lodalen Valley and I love the pic of the Strawberry plantation between the fiords. Well done Diana.
Hi Diana, Thank you so much for the wonderful wishes and beautiful flowers. I LOVED it! I also enjoyed your pic's and info on The Kjendal Glacier and the strawberry plantations. Awesome! Have a great w/end.
Wonderful scenery in your photos! I wouldn't try and have lunch at the hotel (or any other in Norway) unless you are extremely rich.
You've taken some fantastic photos here -- the scenery looks magnificent.
