Sphinx in Egyptian Museum courtyard
In front of the Egyptian Museum, in the courtyard, two Sphinxes, a small fountain and other stone statues can be found.
The fountain, with lotus and papyrus plants, represents the two parts of Egypt: the upper part and lower part.

Goddess Hathor on Egyptian Museum’s façade
Probably one month will not be enough for exploring those 120,000 objects housed by the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
If you have only two hours, as we did, you should not miss Tutankhamon's room and the Mummies Room.
For the Mummies Room the extra ticket bought at the entrance to the Room (inside the Museum) costs LE 70-.
Above the museum's entrance are written the year the construction started (1897) and the one when it was finished (1901) and is also represented the goddess Hathor (with curly hair), art protector.

The Egyptian Supreme Court
The monumental building of the Supreme Court of Egypt was built in Maadi by the young Egyptian architect Ahmed Mito, although initially the project was an international competition in 1994 with about 48 participants.
The building includes counseling halls, a multi purpose hall for 450 people, offices, a library, a museum, and a large atrium that rises up to 18 meters and is covered by a dome.
Al-Qawmy National Theater under the bridge
I would have loved to see a play on the Al-Qawny National Theatre in Cairo, but this was another thing that I had to skip due to the lack of time.
We just came across the National Theater, located in Opera Square, during our stop in Cairo and I already put it on my list of things to do for my future trip there.
Ibrahim Pacha statue
The equestrian statue of Ibrahim pacha is located in the middle of Opera Square, another busy square in downtown Cairo.
The statue was erected in the honor of the Ibrahim Pacha, who actually reigned in his own right only seventy-five days, but also held power for some time during the insanity of Mehemet, by his son Ismail.
View of Maadi and the Nile from my hotel room
They say Maadi is the least densely populated neighbourhood in Greater Cairo and much of the inhabitants are rich Egyptians and expatriates.
Honestly, the Egyptians around didn't seem to be very rich and I haven't seen any expatriate, but Maadi really has an enjoyable atmosphere and I think we've been quite lucky to have the hotel in this area of Cairo.
Maadi lies on the river Nile, on the east bank, and almost every night we couldn't miss the wonderful walk along the Corniche.
Al-Hussein mosque
The huge building of Al-Hussein Mosque cannot be missed at the entrance to the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar, in Midan Hussein square.
The mosque impresses not only through the simplicity of the façade and the tall minaret, but also through its inside architecture, with forty-four white marble columns supporting the structure.
The mosque was build on the cemetery of the Fatimid caliphs which was later discovered during the excavation and is considered one of the holiest Islamic sites in Cairo.
Felucca on the River Nile
There will be not exaggeration if I say that Egypt is the Nile and the Nile is Egypt.
With a length 6,695km (from White Nile Source to Mouth), the Nile goes from south to north Egypt and the life of this country is weaving around it.
From Luxor to Aswan or in Cairo, a cruise on the Nile is something not to be missed in Egypt.
And the Nile at sunrise ot sunset is something that cannot be easily forget it!
The City of the Dead
This was one of the strangest, but at the same time interesting places I've seen in Cairo. We actually didn't go to visit the so-called City of the Dead but passed nearby many times during our journey there.
The place which was supposed to be the resting place for the dead was transformed in a residential area and today is home for many poor inhabitants.
Dining on the cenotaph? Pretty strange, isn't it?
Directions: The City of the Dead is located north of the Citadel and east of Khan al Khalili.
Mosque of Mohammed Ali – The cenotaph
The stunning cenoteaph of Mohammed Ali is located on the southwest corner of the mosque.
Enclosed by a beautiful bronze openwork, the rich decorated cenotaph is made of white marble.
Mohammed Ali was originally buried in Housh el Basha and his body was moved to the Mosque by one of his successors, King Abbas I.
