"Priene - My love at first sight" Gullubahce by Diana75
Gullubahce Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 52 photos
My first short stop to Priene became actually a long visit followed by a tremendous wish to be back there as soon as possible.
Priene... my love at first sight, my favorite site in Turkey.
It is even difficult to describe what impressed me more in Priene.
Maybe the fact that you are far from any modern civilization and surrounded by this magnificent scenery you forget about... everything.
Maybe the high cliff of Mt. Mycale, the silent participant to all the transformations of Priene until today.
Maybe the perfect planning of the city which can be recognized even today.
Maybe the fact that the only sound you can hear in Priene is the mountain breeze whistling through the trees.
Maybe the well-preserved agora, the Temple of Athena, the Bulenterion, the stadium or the gymnasium.
Maybe all these unique qualities which together transform the visit to Priene into a spectacular journey back in time.

Very interesting reading and fabulous pictures. I didn't know about House of Alexander. We need Alexander the Great now ---> lower taxes and more autonomy :-)
I could actually feel how much you admire this site. The Temple of Athena is especially beautiful.
Superbe imagini, utile informatii, minunata pagina! Gabriela
This place looks so beautiful, quiet and rural, just where i would love to be right now
