Once known as Eternal Peace and now known as Western Peace ( Xi'an) , this is a part of China we came to only because of the fame of the Terra Cotta soldiers. I can' t say I knew much of the history of this area before our visit and even though I managed to grasp such a small bit while there, I at least got a better appreciation of the thousands of years of mankind that passed before us. Its overwhelming to think about the enormous span of years of lifetimes , of working ,of living, learning and fighting. Man just keeps going on. Maybe that's the lesson that has been left behind and represented by the Terra Cotta Soldiers. |
| | The Tang years However during the Tang dynasty this area once held once held control over the Silk Routes . There were infact two million inhabitants here and was most likely the largest settlement in the world. |
| | The city Today Xi'an was cool and very smoggy on the day we visited in September. We roamed around the City Wall area and got a view of both the old and new city. |
