The drive to split from Mostar was beautiful especially along the coast.
Split is an ancient city dating back to around 250AD with the construction of the Diocletian's Palace. Much of the Old City lies within these ancient well-preserved walls. |
| | Split has an Italian Mediterranian feel with its wide marbled squares along the bay and outdoor restaurants. But it is much less expensive. Alot of people come here as a starting point for their travels to the little islands in the Adriatic around Split. We stayed a few days and really enjoyed it. |
| | Split is a popular tourist destination and by the look of the yachts in the bay and the high end stores , it’s been discovered by the wealthy sect!! busy port, with an international airport and regular ferry services with the nearby islands, the north and south, Italy and Greece. |

| Pros: | "Beautiful and exciting." | | Cons: | "A busy tourist destination" | | In A Nutshell: | "A chance to sample all the Mediterranian has to offer with a reasonable price tag" |

trock1 Mon Mar 9, 2009 03:06 UTC Wonderful pages and photos. | HORSCHECK Wed Dec 3, 2008 21:49 UTC Anita, fabulous page with brilliant photos of Split. I especially like the shot of the illuminated Riva. Your page brings back memories of our time in Split. Salad with massage oil is probably not the best choice. ;-) | diocletianvs Thu Sep 4, 2008 16:10 UTC Trznica or pazar (the outdoor market) is indeed a world on its own and worth a visit when in Split. How did you like the newly refurbished Riva (waterfront promenade)? | balhannah Thu Aug 21, 2008 00:20 UTC I'm like you, love the flowers at the markets and such beautiful arrangements. I find different types of flowers in different countries. Must check this market out! |
