We had heard such bad reviews about Lima, before we arrived , that we were a little intimidated.

To calm ourselves we arranged to have our hotel pick us up at the airport. Not a bad idea , I think .

The city has a huge poverty strinken area and as another person put it " the danger is Money. You have they don't". We were careful and had no problems.

We took a city tour....highly recommended and saw a beautiful side of this city and its art and architecture

  • Pros:Once a rich important city , a place to gain a better understanding of Peru today
  • Cons:crowded, poor and smoggy

    I was in Lima last year and loved it. I did not feel unsafe or uncomfortable and I roamed all over the Inner City. But I was cautious and took no unnecessary chances. I would return again any time.
