This area is probably best go for it's go go bars and sex scene which when you consider how young the victims of this trade lends a sadness to the area. It is in fact two small streets - Patpong 1 and Patpong 2. Located between Silom Road and Surawongse Road, Patpong 1 and Patpong 2 run alongside each other. However thankfully more and more visititors are coming to this area for shopping .The street stalls in the middle of the road offer just about everything you want – a really perfect place to pick up gifts for people back home. We found this was the only area where you can large T Shirts. Note that many of the stalls don't open until 7PM...it's pretty sleepy until then. There lots of little restaurants in the area as well

Bangkok's vibrant Chinatown district runs along Yaowarat Road from Odeon Circle, where a huge ceremonial Chinese gate marks the entrance, up to the Ong Ang Canal, which marks the outer boundaries of the royal district. It's a good place to shop for gold . Note there is no haggling with the gold...it's weighed and priced according to weight. Nothing opens until afternoon so plan accordingly if you want to shop. The easiest way to reach Chinatown is by boat. Get off at the Ratchawong Pier and walk up Ratchawong Road to Sampaeng Lane or Yaowarat Road. Many people come to see Wat Traimit .This small temple is home to the world's largest solid gold Buddha image, the five-ton-plus image sits within the temple. It is breathtaking and a must to see. There are so many sites to see in Chinatown. Many historic buildings such as the Tang To Gung gold shop on Sampaeng Lane . The markets are always crowded and fun ...selling a variety of things. Beware of scam artists ...they can pose as police officers giving advice on which places to shop.

Chatuchak Weekend Market .With this market in the city , one would always have something fun to do on the weekend. When I first heard how huge it is , I thought of chaos....It is unbelievably huge . It contains more than 15 000 shops and stalls, has over 200 000 visitors each day but it is surprisingly so well organized .. If you walk left or right it's same stuff....eg shoes...shoes and more shoes . Walk straight ahead and you get to a different category....like shirts etc....so simple really. There is a huge range of products on sale and bargaining is expected .There are household accessories, handicrafts, art, antiques, books, music, clothes, food, plants and flowers etc... Don't worry there are lots of places fro food and drinks...and I never felt crowded even though there are so many people. 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday and Sunday We had lots of fun and as usual bought too much....

If you arrive in Bangkok at the end of your Thailand trek and think you have seen more than enough Buddha's ....muster up enough excitement and go see this one. Wat Pho or Wat Phra Chetuphon as it is generally known to the Thais, is famous for the huge Reclining Buddha statue it houses. It is a favorite with the locals and a must see. It is even larger than I imagined and quite amazing. It is a gold plated reclining Buddha , 46 meters long and 15 meters high, and is designed to illustrate the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The feet and the eyes are engraved with mother-of-pearl decoration. There are more than 1000 Buddha images in total on the grounds of Wat Pho , most from the ruins of the former capitals Ayuthaya and Sukhothai. Wat Pho is also famous as Thailand's first university, and is center for traditional Thai massage . If you want to experience traditional Thai massage, this is one of the best place available . It costs 150B for 30 mins, 250B for an hour . Entrance is 20B. It's open every day, opening hours are from 08.00am to 5.00pm, with a break from 12.00pm to 1.00pm.

It's the Eiffel Tower of Bangkok and is on many visitor posters, Wat Arun, "the Temple of the Dawn." It's definately a hot tourist spot but never the less it's a must see. Most people go see it by boat. Start off with taking a BTS to Saphan Taksin station. Then take the ferry to Tha Tien Pier . Allow yourself time to enjoy . There are steps you can climb and the river view is worth the trouble!! The most attractive structure in this temple is the 79m (260ft) high pagoda or Phra Prang which is completely covered with pieces of multi-colored glass and Chinese porcelain.
