A glimpse of the past | History dating back to 1350 |
Known now as Asia's rice field , Auytthaya was once a powerhouse of Southeast Asia. Thailand's most glorious peiod was when Auytthaya was the powerhouse from 1350 to the end of the 16th century. What a glorious city it must have been , with1700 templesd snd 4000 golden images of Buddah.
Although most of the temples were very left in ruins by the Burmese , there are still many sites that are awe inspiring.
It is best to start with the Historical study center on Rochana Road inorder to put things in prospective. |
| | Take a city tour Thai style We found the best way to get around was to book a tuk tuk driver for the day . They are very familar with the routine and even with limited English will take you to all the sites. |
| | We found one day plenty of time to see Ayuttaya. We spent one night and did most of our siteseeing the following morning. |
