World's First National Park

So much to see... So much to do...

South Entrance
We did not have a whole lot of time at Yellowstone and the weather was not the most cooperative. But.. we made the most of our time and still saw some great sites.

In 1872, Yellowstone became the world's first National Park. This goes to show that people back then had a great desire to preserve the tranquility and beauty of wild natural places.

And of course... Old Faithful!!

The world's best known geyser. It's eruptions can vary from 40 minutes to 126 minutes. You can determine the eruption times at the Visitor Center.

Geysers are formed by surface water seeping down into porous rock layers to be heated under pressure and then rise back up to the surface as a geyser or hot spring.

There are many geysers and hot springs to view throughout the Park. Visit Norris Basin and West Thumb if time permits.
Moose or Big foot??

Moose??

This picture just proves how much a dork I am. I got excited with this Moose sighting at dusk that I didn't put our new ditigal camera on the right setting! Pathetic...I know... at least I have humor about it.

He was on a riverbank across the Lewis River and he was definately the traffic stopper.
