"Great State Park!" Cliffs of the Neuse State Park by Shihar

We were pleasantly surprised with this park! There are many activities to enjoy while visiting this park.

HISTORY-
In the 1900s, people flocked to this for various reasons. They drank from the springs and took river boat excursions to the cliffs.

THe state park was established in 1945. The park has since grown to its current 890 acres.

Cliffs tower over 98 feet above historic river and remain pretty much unaltered.They were formed when a fault in the earth's crust shifted millions of years ago.

There are a total of 1.6 miles of hiking trails which provide amazing views.

The most unexpected activity was actually an 11 acre lake with a beach and swimming area.
