"The Gathering Place" a Oahu Travel Page by Shihar

Any travel book you open,you will commonly see Oahu labeled as the "gathering place". Obviously, because this island is the most populated of all the Hawaiian Islands.

You will especially notice this difference if you venture to the other islands. The tourists seems to out weigh the locals in many of the most populated regions of the island.

We ventured thoughout all Oahu. There are many great sites to see.

We drove around the entire island for a day. Oahu is very beautiful and has many great nature exploring activities, but for us, it was just a bit too crowded.

This is typical of any major city, see it once then explore something else.

Diamondhead State Park- was probably our favorite on Oahu. The hike is pretty strenous but the view at the top is great. Take your time to catch your breath at the top.

Also, a very popular site to see. The National Park service has done a fine job in preserving the sunken ships underwater.

We arrived late in the afternoon just in time for the last movie showing. The last ferry boat out to the memorial is about 4:30pm.

This is free entertainment for the afternoon for those on a budget. We always like to donate something since the National Park service has had major, major cuts in funding over the past few years.
