God's Country, For Real!

by klj&a - last update: Jun 8, 2008

What a beautiful area! The spectacular views of the Chugach mountains and Cook Inlet. The population of Anchorage is 42% of the entire state of Alaska. The population is about 260,000. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the mountain views since Alaska has 17 of the 20 highest peaks in the U.S. I just recently finished reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer and it's easy to see how the beauty of Alaska drew Chris McCandless to the area. There seems to be an unusually large number of brewpubs in downtown Achorage which is fine by me.

p.s. Attention all shoppers! There is no sales tax in Anchorage.

Pros:"Lots of brewpubs, the mountain views of course!"
Cons:"Surprisingly expensive"
