"Ivory Coast" Departement d' Abidjan by nyota13

I spent a year living in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and it is obvious that it was once a great city. The former Paris of West Africa has been suffering from economic decline and a political stalemate for three years so it is no longer a tourist hot spot. There are still some great restaurants and some fun nightclubs like Havana Cafe and Scotch Club in Zone 4. The beaches in Assinie are amazing and Grand Bassam is also interesting. The Basilica in the administrative capital rivals anything in Europe for grandeur and ridiculous lavishness. It is an interesting and diverse country and if they manage to move beyond the issues that have divided the country, it could be a great tourist destination in the future.
