One of the most friendly places I’ve ever been. On Grand Bahama Island (Freeport), the sea has always provided. The earliest settlers, the Siboney Indians, were a people who lived off conch and fishing, and the shells and jewelry they left behind form the majority of what we know about them. The Lucayans (also called Arawaks) were a broad group of tribes who worked their way up the Caribbean from South America's Amazon between 5 and 7,000 years ago. There are nice beaches where you can snorkel, wind surf, or Para sail. There are also beaches with it's own little Straw Markets for gifts and t-shirts. |
| | Port Lucaya Freeport is really beautiful. This is Port Lucaya. You can see where one of the Hurricanes has taken away some of the ports edge. |
More Hurricane damage to port Despite the damage, Freeport is alive and doing great! | | |

Sininen Sun Dec 31, 2006 06:57 UTC Hi Benita! Grand Bahama looks so tempting, especially on a grey, windy morning like this. Happy Birthday from Finland! |
