Lots of people get caught by this one (I did on my first trip). Basically, a bunch of guys hang around the Sacre Coeur and as you walk past, quick as you can blink, will tie a piece of thread round your wrist and make a 'friendship' bracelet out of it. As soon as the thread is cut, you have to pay for it - they'll try for anything from 10 to 20 Euro. Say you don't have that much; I think I got away with about 2. Don't even think about running away - they all work together, and you'll regret it. If you see them, keep your hands in your pockets (or well out of reach) and walk off. They'll ask questions like 'where are you from?' etc, but don't get into conversation with them as they'll tie you up in knots (literally).
