No particular reason to go to Coeur d'Alene the first time. I've been three times altogether. Once on Labor Day weekend and we were experiencing unusually hot weather on the west coast that year. It was extremely humid in California so escaping to Coeur d'Alene was a nice relief. Once during July and the last time was at the end of December and spent New Years there. I had a slight fear upon my first visit when I initially did some research on the demographics of ethnicities living in Idaho. At the time, it was something like 95% White, 2% Native American Indian, 1% Black, 1% Asian, 1% Latino. Hmmm, since I'm Japanese, I wasn't sure how welcomed I would feel and anticipated the worst. Fortunately, Idahoans are extremely nice and friendly. There is a white supremacy following up in Idaho but I did not encounter any of this when I visited all three times. I love Coeur d'Alene! Very beautiful place, the lake is pristine and the food in town was excellent. All my photos are on film and I don't have a scanner. One of these days, I will go back and visit again. It is definitely worth a fourth trip. Some of my fondest experiences was seeing so much wildlife in the natural habitat like deer, pheasants and turkeys. |
