Back in the day (maybe around 1975), Monrovia was considered a "not so nice" place to live. I suppose the mayor and residents of the town set out to change that. The company I worked for (17 years) made it's final home in Monrovia. I saw the transformation. The first year we were in Monrovia, we saw unemployed men at the end of the street just hanging out, drinking and smoking. Those run down homes at the end of the street were bought and demolished. Then, businesses were constructed. The price of homes started to climb and a whole new class of people started to live in Monrovia. Granted, 30 years later, the town is not brand, spankin' new anymore but it still has it's charm. Go up Myrtle Avenue and you will find a pleasant surprise.

Monrovia is located East of Pasadena and East of Arcadia at the Foothills.
