  • I was very disappointed that I could not fit in a visit to Chiang Mai in my itinerary for Thailand. I was looking forward to taking part in an elephant trek. Turns out, we were be able to do this Ao Nang! We rented a motorbike for the day upon our arrival in Ao Nang and as we were riding around, I saw the sign "Nosey Parker's Elephant Camp" which was something I can came across in my research for things to do in Krabi! So, we stopped off to check it out. 750 baht (US$23.00) per person for a few hours (that's all you really need) going through quite a jungley area. We didn't have that much cash on us. But, they told us after we did our elephant trek, we can get cash from an ATM at the 7-11 store down the street.

Please see my travelogue for more photos.

  • We had no clue where this was but figured it can't be too hard to find. If you ask around, someone is bound to know. Apparently, there are supposed to be lights inside so you can see but they were not on when we went. We went back over to a a rock climbing rental place and asked if we could rent a flashlight. He said he had flashlights but not for rent. So, I asked if we could buy one. He said no. Hmmm, not for rent and not for sale...very odd! He asked why we needed one and proceeded to let us borrow it. I believe the rock climbing rental place provided tours that included the gear. Therefore, one price for the package and that's why the flashlights were not for rent or sale. Anyhow, this cave isn't really all that big. It is impressive to see. Watch your step - there are rounded wood planks to walk on and it's rather easy to trip on them. Please see my travelogue for photos of Diamond Cave. The photos posted here should help you find it.

    Address: Railay, Krabi, Thailand
Directions: From Railay East, look for signs to Diamond Cave Resort. Proceed up that path. Look at my photos for where you will need to go through. If you reach the resort itself, you went too far.

  • Ao Nang is a tiny city just south of Phuket. We decided to check it out and there wasn't much to see at first. We rented a motorbike and the road trip took us to an elephant camp where we did an elephant trek. We enjoyed lunch at one of the seaside restaurants, Mother House. We had a nice little unexpected adventure in Ao Nang!
